Can someone tell me how to set up my ATP3 Altec Lansing speakers to my desktop?

I was setting up my desktop computer today and after hooking up my Altec Lansing speakers, I realized that they produced no sound. The sound from the monitor (a Magnavox 15" LCD TV/ monitor) works fine, but the Altec speakers do not. Could someone walk me through the steps to set them up correctly and possibly send me a diagram? My computer is from the Micron Millenium Series.

if there is only one wire that goes to the modem..make sure it is plugged into the green plug-in..make sure the power supply is plugged in and the main power on the speaker is turned on.
