Can I upgrade my 15" woofer with a more powerful one?
I have a pair of Cerwin Vega D-9 home speakers. I used to have them in my room and they were hittin hard. I then moved them to my big living room and the bass is weaker. Can I replace my 15" 200wattRMS woofers with a 15" 600wattRMS woofer? Will this damage my Cerwin Vega cabinet?
Agree with same amp won't make a difference, plus the speaker enclosure requirements for the 600 watt most likely will be different and it could put out less volume.
The best placement for a sub is in a corner as it projects the sound better. If that doesn't help, then it's time to buy another sub of the same kind to have two, or buy a larger sub that has the right enclosure and power amp.
You just aren't coupling with enough air for that bigger room. That's why tiny headphone speakers can produce heavy bass. The volume inside you ear cannel is small and the headphone speaker is relatively large.
