Down firing sub woofer enclosure?

Do i need special sub woofers "down firing sub woofers" for a down firing box? I jave 2 ten inch kicker cvrs. I have a 1000 wat amp coming in the mail along with a dual ten inch down firing sub enclosure specially made for my truck, because i have a 96 chevy z71 and the transmition in the middle of the truck puts a hump in the floor board where a regular enclosure would not fit. Just wondering if i need a special type of sub, amp, amp kit etc... Any advice about subs and what not would be helpfull as well. Thanks

no you don't need a special type of subwoofer for a down firing box.
Just make sure that the box sits high enough up to keep the woofer from hitting the floor
