Wiring midrange speakers to an amp?
Here is my current setup: I have two 6 3/4" Kenwood speakers in the doors. There are two Diamond subs in the hatch, bridged on a single channel Alpine 700W amp. I'm going to get a new 2000W 2 Ch. amp for the Diamonds, and I'm also getting replacements made by Kicker for the factory rear panel speakers.
The replacement Kicker speakers are 250W handling capacity, and they are a Midrange speaker. The question is, how do I go about hooking the old Alpine amp up to these smaller speakers while still having my larger amp for the subs?
It has 3 sets of RCA cables. Could someone elaborate on a crossover and what it does? I've never actually had to use one in a setup before.
The RCA lines even have little labels on them that say "F", "R", and "SUB"... Cool huh?
That Alpine is only a 700W 1Ch. amp, do you think I could bridge all four of the smaller speakers to it?
First off you need to check to see if your reciever (Cd player, tape deck) has more than one set of RCA cable in the back. If it does, then you run cables from each to each amp. If not, then you need to buy 2 y-cables so you can split you music signal and send it to each amp.
As far as wiring the amps, they should be pretty much the same. Check on your alternator tho, it gonna be under quite a strain running both amps.
good luck and happy jammin!!!!
