Are all record player needles the same or are there different types of needles for different brands of players

I was looking at buying a record player for my husband. The brand is "olympic bsr" found it at a store but it has no needle for the turntable. How much would it be to buy a needle and do i need to look for a specific type of needle or are they all the same? It plays 78, 45, and 33 if that makes a difference! As you can tell I don't know much about record players!! I dont even know if Olympic is a good brand : If you have any advice that would be GREAT! Thanks a ton!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes, different needles (stylus) for different turntables...be very sure you have what you need before you buy the turntable...and that replacements will be available in the future (or stock up with SEVERAL now)...I own a LOT of vinyl records (I even have those old 78s) and maintain two turntables at home...it's lost art, but it can be done, and not everything can be replaced on CD or downloaded into those infernal little MP3 players...
