I own a Panasonic SA-HT930 and want to upgrade my DVD changer but use the same sub & speakers. Is it possible?
I need to buy a new DVD changer that has an HDMI input. Can I upgrade just this part and use the same subwoofer and speakers? The subwoofer looks like it has a proprietary connector that connects it to the receiver.
Well, I could only find one pic of your unit & it was on eBay. That is a dated unit. What you need to do is look at the speaker wires. Are there 2 wires glued together for every speaker? If so that would be the positive & negative wires for each speaker. You could then strip the ends & connect them to a new receiver. But the sub would not be powered so you would need a separate amp for it. Or replace it with a new powered sub woofer. Then I would not bother hunting down a dvd changer. Go ahead & make the upgrade to Blu-ray. The problem with those home theaters in a box that you have, is they are not flexible. Plus, many of them are lacking in the quality dept as well. They are ok for those on a budget, but if your wanting to start over & really look into a killer home theater, junk all of that. If not upgrade to this one that I linked ya.
