Why does my 6 x 9 speaker only play when I touch the cone?
I have two 6 x 9 speakers hooked up to an amp. They were both playing fine for a few weeks, even when the volume was at the max. Suddenly one of them stoped working, but the other one still plays. They are mounted in the back of my car so i went in the trunk and touched the inside of the cone and it started to play again. What is causing this how can I fix it?
The voice coil is blown, broken or burnt. When you put pressure on it you force the broken connection to conduct again, by making the broken "Wire" or coil touch again.. Bottom line.
Your speaker is blown.
